Meeting Minutes
Joe Stout opened the meeting...8:30 a.m.
Fifteen members present: Ken Bradfield, John Brenan, Tom Craig, Alex Dykes, Norm Dillon, Larry Fortna, Howard Grant, Frank Hanley, Ron McKonly, Don Neal, Phil Rea, Ron Spahr, Joe Stout, Henry Vreeland, Walter Webber
No Guests Present
Minutes of the June meeting were accepted as written.
1. Treasurers Report: Frank Hanley presented the treasurers report for July 22, 2010. The club had a starting balance of $866.52 for June 24, expenses - none, deposits and income of $17.00 from the sale of hats . The ending balance is $883.52. The report was accepted as written.
2. Old Business:
a. Recap of July 4th activities. All positive comments. Raffle was a great success. Went through
16 dozen cookies and 80 bottles of water.
b. Sheet was once again passed around for volunteers to sign up for coffee and donuts.
c. Monthly breakfast: Monday, July 26th, at 8:00am - at Mineola Grill.
3. New Business:
a. Web Site: Ron Spahr gave a report on the web site. Ron reported that we had a total of 153 hits,
some were from brand new viewers. We are averaging five hits per day.
b. New timer/starting speaker was received.
c. Ken Bradfield reported on the health of George Robinson. George is not doing well and has
been moved into a nursing home facility. The club agreed to send George’s wife Betty a
planter or flowers. Our prayers continue to be with George and Betty.
d. Sail Times: Sail days will continue to be Mondays and Thursdays. Racing for record will be the
first Monday for Solings and the first Thursday for US 12’s. Racing will begin at 10:30 with
recreational sailing from 9:00 till 10:30. All boats must have bumpers.
e. Howard Grant presented material on the Pea Pod class and asked that everyone check it out
and consider whether or not we might want to start up a group in this class. Likewise, Norm
Dillon passed around a magazine on the CR-914 class. It was decided to table any decision
until everyone has had a chance to research these boats.
f. New Sail Day. The board approved one additional sail day for the club should we want to use it in
the future.
g. Ken Bradfield spoke on the possibility of having team racing. More to come on that later.
h. Norm Dillon suggested that the club purchase Marine Modeling magazine and that Ron Spahr
as the club librarian be the one to keep track of it. This suggestion was met with overwhelming
apathy.
4. Adjournment. The meeting was adjourned at 9:25 a.m.
A special thanks go out to Joe Stout for providing today’s coffee and to and Ron McKonly for providing the donuts.
Out next meeting is for scheduled for August 26th, Rec.Center 8:30 a.m.
