Royal Highlands R/C Model Yacht Club, is a club in the gated community of; Royal Highlands. We are located just south of Leesburg, in Central Florida, Region #3 of the American Model Yachting Association, club # 249.
Model yachts come with different designs, sizes, weight and sail area. One design classes strictly limit the design of the boat so race winners are determined by the skill of the skipper. We actively sail a number of AMYA recognized classes.

Many of our skippers also sail electric
powered crafts. There seems to be an
unlimited list of these crafts to choose from.
Ours so far include: pleasure craft, racers
and tugs:
Many of our skippers enjoy building their
own boat from a kit, or scrach build from plans,
or develop their own original design.
The Soling 1 Meter, the U.S. 12, Footy and many other vessels, may be purchased as a kit, or factory assembled. In addition there are times a used boat comes up for sale in the area.

For those skippers who wish to race, success requires two important things: boat speed and good racing tactics. Each race begins with a one minute count down recording. Skippers continually adjust their sails and boat direction to make their boat go faster and get into good tactical position for the both the beginning and each leg of the race.
